The Reason Why Your Child Has To Wear A Swim Nappy In The Pool

If you think about water safety the first thing that most likely will pop into your mind is drowning. Anyway it is obviously one of the highest risks when swimming but there is more. Germs can infect pool water and can cause RWI - recreational water illnesses.

These illnesses are dispersed by drinking pool water that has been contaminated. Contamination is spread when someone's fecal matter gets in the water.

It is known that the germs causing these RWIs get wiped out by the chlorine in the pool water but that doesn't happen asap after an accident. Some germs like Crypto can exist longer than a day in chlorinated water.

As infants and some toddlers are not entirely potty-trained most pools require that they wear a swim diaper approved by the CDC.

Swim diapers are not like normal diapers as they do not absorb liquids. What they are assumed to do is to hold any solid waste in. Although it is true that swimming diaper do not guarantee non-leakage on 100% if used with some precautions they will cut off the germ spread.

Mothers can choose from disposable and washable swim diapers to buy. Both have their benefits and drawbacks but I personally advise using the reusables.

The reason I favor washable swimming diapers is they are much cheaper in the long term though the initial cost may seem huge. In fact your little will need only two or three reusable swim diapers so you can change them if there has been a poo event.

You can machine wash them with other clothes and towels. I wouldn't encourage that you put your little one in a standard cloth diaper cover. Generally it will do the same work but the chlorine in the water will ruin the fabric.

If you hate the thought of washing a soiled diaper than you should go for the disposable option. Disposable swimming diapers come in packs as regular and you throw them away after every swim. I wouldn't suggest using a sposie more than once though it can last several laundry cycles.

The negative aspect of using disposable swim diapers is they will need more space in your bag and they are quite high priced.

When you go buying swim nappies you should keep some critical checkpoints in your mind.

A great swim diaper should be comfy, not hard to put on and pull off when dirty and should be made of a soft fabric that won't give your little one a rash. My advice is to choose an adjustable swimming diaper, there are options with Velcro, snaps and strings so it fits snugly the baby's body.

Both reusable and disposable swimming diapers have a great range of colors and designs to choose from. Particularly if you have a baby girl you may find it tough to choose only one or two as they are so charming.
